Lab2: HTML

This lab is due 11:59pm June 17, 2005. You have a 6 hour grace period until 6:00am during which you may still turn in the assignment.

Welcome to the webpage lab! In this lab, we're going to learn all about HTML. While this lab tends to take a considerable amount of time to complete (Hint: start early!) it also is one of the more rewarding labs. Be sure you understand the marterial in Important UNIX Commands before you being the rest of the lab. There are topics covered in there that you will need to be able to finish this lab. In order to give you a good overview of HTML we will try to cover a large number of topics here.

Sections:

  1. Important UNIX commands
  2. What is this HTML thing? - HTML Resources
  3. Page Template
  4. Style Sheets
  5. How to setup my webpage on prism  Please see the second link on the page.
  6. File Transfer: getting files to acme
  7. Mailforms
  8. Requirements and Submission

You must do this lab by hand. You may not use any graphical editors such as Frontpage, Dreamweaver, Netscape Composer, Bob's Homepage Maker, etc. It is strongly recommended that you do your work on Acme in an editor such as pico, emacs, or vi. If you choose to work on your own computer, use a text editor such as Notepad, SimpleText, TextEdit, etc., and transfer your files in ASCII mode in your FTP program. If you choose to work on your own computer and upload your files, you are responsible for transferring the files correctly.
